Year 1 Winter walk

As part of our study on seasonal change we went out looking for signs of winter. We were supposed to do this last week but the snow came down and covered everything! 

Today we discovered that you can see quite a lot of different things, even on a cold grey winter's day:

* coloured stems and bark of the silver birch trees and dogwoods.

* evergreens of fir, ivy and holly

* buds of colour on heather, skimmia, and mahonia

* a sign of things to come with buds of cherry blossom and willow

* brave early flowers from bulbs of snowdrop, crocus and daffodils
