Year 1 Home Learning - Week 10 -22.6.2020
Date: 18th Jun 2020 @ 5:53pm
Good afternoon everyone,
Well it has been a bit of a wet and windy week hasn't it! Hopefully this means you have been stuck inside and able to explore some of the home learning activities. We also hope you have been able to access 'Seesaw' easily, however if you are having any problems please email admin@queensgate.stockport.sch.uk. We have certainly enjoyed seeing lots more photos of the children, their work and even some video and audio of them.
Here are some new activities for next week for you to try. Now we appreciate that lots of the children will be coming back to school, but not everyone quite yet, which means our home learning will be changing slightly to reflect this. Many activities included will be exactly the same as those undertaken in school, but some will be new to everyone. To help you: if your child is back in school next week concentrate on activities marked with a gold star and these will usually be the science and topic activities.
Our feedback activity this week can be found in 'topic tasks'. It's geography and something all the children need to know- the countries, capital cities and seas of the United Kingdom. The task should be fairly quick, fun with video clips and interactive games, with no obligation to write. We would like to see which facts the children can recall but this can be done via video or audio if you prefer.
There are some other activities we would like all children to keep on doing at home- these are the type of thing, under normal circumstances, we would set for homework each week- such as reading, handwriting, spelling and phonics. Ideally we would like the children to read 3 times a week at home. The use of the Rising Stars Reading Planet and Epic online books will continue, even with the children back in school, as physical books will not be brought home, and we really do encourage you to maintain this regular practice. If they are reading other books you already have you, can let us know via Seesaw comment, video or audio recording and we have really enjoyed hearing a bit of them reading already. These tasks are also marked with a gold star, to show they are suitable for everyone.
We hope you find this useful, but as always please contact us via the admin email above, with any queries.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Mrs Clough, Mrs Mott and Mrs Ramsden-Smith
